An award-winner, known for the large white jars that are splendidly simple, adorned only with an applique of corn, and/or,carved cliff swellings. He sometimes adds a little wooden ladder that emerges from the narrow neck of a jar, as if from a ceremonial kiva chamber. His mother-in-law, Stella Shutiva, inspired and urged him to switch from painting to pottery. Wilfred collaborates with his wife, Sandra. In recent years, his output has dwindled because of poor health.
