Wright’s Indian Art is proud to present Hangin’ with the Masters – Episode 10: Joe and Althea Cajero!!
The Cajeros will be in our studio on Saturday, October 6th from 12pm until 5pm.
Althea has been lauded with a number of awards for her jewelry designs using cuttlefish bone, coral, precious gems and turquoise. Joe’s spectrum of media includes works in bronze, clay and jewelry, in sizes that are both monumental and intimate. Joe’s pieces are part of collections including Santa Fe’s, Museum of Indian Arts & Crafts, as well as private collections throughout the U.S.
Both also show at the annual Santa Fe Indian Market, the Heard Museum Art Market in Phoenix, AZ as well as a number of other art and Native American art markets throughout the southwest.
In 2014, Joe and Althea Cajero were awarded the MIAC Living Treasure award in recognition of their artistic excellence and community service. Enjoy this excerpt from their interview for this prestigious award.

The Cajeros will be giving a talk while performing a live demo, including Joe beginning work on a new clay piece and Althea sharing information and materials related to cuttlebone casting.
