A remarkabley precise and innovative metalsmith from the Monument Valley area of the Navajo.
A matte finish on astonishingly exact silver work is a favorite of Roland’s, often with an accent of 14 gold. His pieces are truly unique in design; he follows his own star, and lives far away from art shows and other influences.
He can make traditional Pueblo cross, or dragonfly, necklaces as easily as distinctive pins that are abstractions of nature. Deeply devout, he loves to create lovely, lacy crosses of various styles. There is always a traditional Navajo sense of balance and symmetry in his work.
A man of many talents, he also works in film production, appears in films (“Into the West” on television, in June 2005) and conducts jeep tours.
