Ric is a internationally acclaimed, self-taught Navajo jeweler who has gained fame for his tufa-cast jewelry. The texture and fine lines he achieves by carving in tufa stone, combined with colorful patinas and semiprecious stones, define his work.
He often favors varied patinas achieved by adding liver of sulfur to the silver. The fine lines in his jewelry are accomplished by cutting tufa stones (compressed volcanic sands) with dental tools.
HIs work has been featured in many publications and reference books, and he has received numerous awards from juried competitions at the prestigious Heard Museum and Santa Fe Indian Markets, including the coveted Best of Show, Best of Class, and a special award for excellence in tufa casting.
