Sunface and Feather EarringsJolene Eustace
You may not wear your heart on your sleeve, but you will certainly want to wear the sun on your ears once you see these beautiful earrings. This exceptional jeweler has developed her own, award-winning style that is quite different from the jewelry her parents were known for. The characteristic combination of antiqued and textured silver, plus accents of 18-karat gold, is beautifully displayed here.
Precisely formed and detailed, the Sunface on both earrings remains delicate, despite the rugged texture and antiqued finish of the silver. One band across each forehead is highly polished to stand out, both literally and figuratively. This gleaming accent is echoed in the round sun of 18-karat gold offset to one side on either earring.
The design seems straightforward and simple but is quite refined and balanced. A succession of circles starts with the notched outer piece, then moves to the slightly convex Sunface, the round, domed coral, and the circular gold sun symbol. It is a perfect composition, since the straight line of the eyes is repeated in the shiny silver band above them, and the subtle, vertical line down the center of the face, as well.
Below, handsomely formed feathers are also darkened, textured, and realistically notched, two on each earring.
Graceful silver spines are antiqued, but polished, and stand out from the texture.
One of each of the pair of feathers is tipped with another 18-karat gold circle, which completes the composition and evokes eagles feathers.
Distinctive, as her work always, is, the design of these dramatic and flattering earrings complements and completes each section.
Another remarkable jewel by this special artist: Bold yet ethereal, these earrings combine tradition with creativity and assured workmanship.
Outrageously flattering, and uncommonly beautiful – enjoy the admiration.
