Voted Indian Artist of the Year, recipient of many awards, and proud of both his Navajo and Greek heritage (Nav-eek!), this artist has perfected a unique method for his stunningly beautiful, inlaid pieces. He places the silver channels first, then laser cuts the stones to fit precisely. That’s as far as he admits; the rest is his secret which other jewelers have tried in vain to copy.
This gorgeous pendant features gem quality, natural sugilite with a stripe of rich blue, natural turquoise. A starburst of silver filaments glitters against the royal purple of the sugilite, and the turquoise. The effect resembles a dragonfly, with a long, narrow body and glistening wings.
The hand cut stones sit in a shadowbox setting, held by a hand cut silver bezel. The slanted frame of silver is meticulously chiseled in parallel lines that echo the silver lines in the stone face. The sharply tapered form also replicates the triangular divisions of the sugilite.
Beautiful in design, majestic in color, and superb in technique, this is another memorable treasure from this premier jeweler. Not just for special occasions, it will look terrific with everyday clothes, like sweaters and shirts, too.
