Description
In the Pueblos, child-minding is often communal: grandmas, aunties, older girls, extended family of all sorts are just as involved with the children as Mama.
So, maybe this lady is not the mother of all sixteen of these children, which may account for her calm demeanor.
She, and all sixteen kids, are singing away, and even the cute spotted puppy is joining in.
This is another virtuoso feat of traditional pottery-making from this artist, one of the many Fragua sisters noted for their storytellers.
Strictly traditional in materials, method, and execution; entirely made by hand, of local clays.
This storyteller would be a wonderful gift for someone with a large, extended family, a teacher, a choral director….
Or, anyone who appreciates gently humorous and well-made pottery art.
