A new generation of Fragua potters from Jemez emerges! Ardina is a daughter of the noted Felicia Fragua.
In this sweet little storyteller, the older kids are embracing the little ones, Mama is holding a nicely decorated plate, and everyone is singing with serious concentration.
Entirely hand made in the traditional way, the red and beige are natural clays, while the black comes from steeping wild spinach plants.
The clay is hand gathered, mixed, formed, painted, and pit-fired.
Mama’s dress is especially detailed and authentic, with a polka-dotted blouse under her black wool manta (dress), a decorative “concho belt” and the traditional hairdo.
This figure will not take up much room, but will attract plenty of pleased attention.
A charming way to start a collection, or to add to one.
