A noted potter, whose tradition-based designs are beautifully formed, and have a contemporary flair in the painted decorations.
This little olla is a perfectly classic Acoma pot – except for the swooping lines of the painted designs, and the modestly placed little heart!
The artist has adroitly manipulated the red clay slip so that there are lighter and darker areas of the same russet color.
The black “paint” is wild spinach infusion; even the green dots on the bird and plant form is natural clay slip.
The white base is the natural, kaolin-rich clay of the Acoma-Laguna-Zuni area.
Shapely in form, dramatic and graceful in decoration, this is a wonderful pot that will easily fit into even the smallest apartment.
A little gem with a large impact.
