Cassandra Smith is a newer artist, though her ideas and techniques are exceptional! This handsome ring is all kinds of marvelous.
Two silver rectangles, one raised and smaller than the other, create a shadowbox edge. Both are chiseled, the bottom rectangle castellated around all four sides, and the top rectangle a softer-edged version of the same design.
The whole ring has been oxidized and polished only partially, creating a darker finish that’s offset by the high-polished top of the circular silver drop in each corner.
The centerpiece, a rectangular Natural Royston Turquoise cabochon is substantial enough to pop while not taking over the entire ring.
Striking in design, and beautiful in execution, too, there is even more to this ring.
The sturdy, rounded, and pointed shank includes hand-chiseled lines, and different textures, adding to the contrast.
Adapting the style of her former partner (with his consent), Cassandra has also decorated the reverse of the ring with a sunburst of fine lines and her hallmark.
Beautiful and striking in several ways, this ring is also more accessible than it looks. Now that is really wonderful!
