Joe Pacheco is a veteran jeweler, highly reputed for wonderful cut stone and shell necklaces – a specialty of Santo Domingo Pueblo for centuries.
This update on tradition features shaped and rounded nuggets of serpentine, in lively lime green, with black matrix to add variety.
But notice he hasn’t abandoned his heritage: the nuggets are separated by teensy, brown, baby olive shell heishi disks, right up to the sterling hook and eye.
Fresh and unusual in color, the serpentine looks cozy and earthy in winter, hinting at spring, like new spring growth in that season, cool and refreshing in the summer, and lovely in autumn.
A handsome necklace that is unexpected, uncommon, and very wearable – in every season.
