Internationally collected, Michael is renowned for the elegance and simplicity of his designs, the quality of the gorgeous stones, and the contemporary allure of his extraordinary inlaid pieces. In this bold, but delicate bracelet, his latest style, two moss green serpentine dragonflies float on gleaming, highly polished sterling silver bars, as if hovering above sun-sparkled water. The silver bars are gently curved, off-center, following the anatomical form of the wrist and hand. Slightly curved, the dragonflies are set on the diagonal, which further accentuates the effect of movement, as if they are flitting over moving water. These dragonflies are a Na Na Ping “trademark”, tapered, graceful and impeccably inlaid. They are set with tender green serpentine that makes a lovely foil for the cool glitter of the silver. This is really two complete, separate pieces that form one: the award-winning artist has fabricated two signature dragonflies, but instead of adding a pin and/or pendant to the backs, has soldered them to an equally arresting, rounded, 6-bar bracelet – a combination of traditions that becomes contemporary. Each element could beautifully stand on its own, to great effect; together, they form a truly exceptional whole. Art that is worn and enjoyed is still art, and this mother and baby dragonfly bracelet is clearly a work of art to be enjoyed.
