This much-honored artist won a major award at the Heard Indian Market, this year, adding to his prizes. He is known for his tufa cast pieces, as here.
Just as in much of his work, traditional materials and subject are transformed into a modern look.
The polished, appliqueed ram’s head contrasts handsomely with the heavily textured background.
It is balanced by a high-quality, natural turquoise, set high in a beautifully chiseled bezel.
The organic shape of the stone seems to reflect the curved form of the ram. Softly shaded by matrix, the bright blue suggests the sky, in the ram’s mountain realm.
Notice, also, how the graceful ram’s head is realistic, although abstracted.
Every bit of the buckle is hand fabricated, including the sturdy working parts, on the back. It will hold a 1 1/2″ wide belt.
Lyndon recently won a Best of Jewelry award at Santa Fe Indian Market, and was a finalist for Best in Show – the highest accolade in Native art.
Enjoy this famous artist’s fine work, in this handsome, accessible buckle.
