Petite and dainty, with enchanting color and precise detail, these are proof that good things come in small packages. This lovely artist has been known for her fine, traditional Zuni inlay for decades. As you can see, she maintains tradition but expresses her own creativity at the same time.
Rich, dark purple spiny oyster shell is lusciously accented with sky-blue turquoise and glistening mother of pearl. Fine jet lines separate the other inlaid materials. The beautiful, uncommon palette is as lovely as a bouquet of dew-laden lilacs against a clear sky.
The inlay is precise; the tiny rosettes of silver add a bit of glitter at the top of the dangling shield shapes. Purple at top and bottom completes the composition. Historic technique meets today’s creativity.
Not entirely traditional, but totally, delicately gorgeous.
