A beautiful, and beautifully made, traditional artifact. Soft deerskin is the material, decorated with beads, including contemporary replicas of the bone cylinders that would have been used in the past.
Everything is handmade, including the tin jingles ( canned goods were a staple on reservations until fridges and freezers became more common). Its function, historically, was to keep the cherished ceremonial pipe safe; now, it is a treasured cultural expression.
Hang this on your wall, or display it on a shelf, with or without a pipe inside. It would look especially handsome alongside the gorgeous cradleboard, on our site, one of the other bags, Mary Big Day’s doll, or other beadwork.
