Description:
A rare jeweler in a place best known for pottery, this Jemez Pueblo artist likes to transmute natural forms into silver permanence, using the lost wax method. Her signature “honeycomb” pattern is turned on its ear for these marvelous earrings. They combine the Native jewelry tradition of deliciously flirtatious dangles, with the contemporary look of an openwork web. The silver lattice subtly refers to the old style of inlaid turquoise and silver chandeliers. These earrings have all the flattering movement and length of traditional chandeliers, with a contemporary esthetic. Crisply cast and finished beautifully, these are more than merely a grid; notice that each little square is fully three-dimensional, like a miniature beveled frame. A little bit traditional; a whole lot glamorous – but in a casual, wearable way.
