Long known for her inlay work, Ola creates in traditional Zuni lapidary styles, often with her own twist to the expected. Such is this beautiful little Star of David – not a Zuni tradition, but a wonderful combination of Zuni inlay and a symbol of another culture.
The base of the piece is sterling silver. Royal blue, natural lapis forms each of the six points of the star, while gleaming yellow mother of pearl creates a hexagonal frame for the dome of dark red, natural coral at the center. The effect is of the sun shining in the deep blue sky. Whisper-thin silver channels divide the mother of pearl hexagon.
Small, but resplendent with bold, artful color and glistening mother of pearl, this is a lovely gift for a bat mitzvah, any holiday, or just because.
