With the precision, artistry and impeccable technique that has won him so many awards, this Navajo/Greek jeweler has beautifully evoked the deep blue sea of his father’s heritage and the turquoise sky of his Navajo mother’s. Employing his secret method of inlay, the artist assembles the silver channels then cuts the stones to fit exactly.
Sitting high and majestic in a shadowbox setting, the premium quality, natural lapis is sprinkled with tiny specks of pyrite matrix, a sign of high quality. Beveled and pillowed, it is bisected by a vertical stripe of natural turquoise in a lovely, rich blue. Edging the turquoise and fanning out from it, are glittering silver channels, delicate as a hair.
Framed by the darkened shadowbox setting, the hand cut bezel glitters with its high polish. The outer, canted frame of silver is also dazzlingly polished, and chiseled with parallel lines that accord with the design in the stones.
