A stellar artist who has won many awards for her exceptional updating of ancient inlay tradition, Charlene here creates something entirely different from her sumptuous, reversible, mosaic-inlay necklaces.
Charlene collaborates with her husband. She herself does the designing, cutting and inlaying – piece by tedious piece – by hand. Her husband does the final polishing and grinding of the shells and stones.
With the same sense of color and design that characterize her elaborate pieces, she has made this charming, bracelet of tiny “Rubik’s cubes”, Pueblo style.
Each little cube is inlaid in an all-over mosaic pattern on two sides, and one center rectangle, flanked by micro-mosaics, on the other two.
Tiny beads, including tiger’s eye, spiny oyster shell, and more, are interspersed between each cube, along with fragments of spiny oyster shell.
Bright blue turquoise is a lovely foil to the mother of pearl, and other warm hues.
This is a true innovation, and will attract many questions and much admiration.
Fun to see, fun to wear; a wonderful piece you will enjoy very often.
PS We have earrings by the same terrific artist, that will go beautifully with this bracelet. One pair is on the web site, and we have others.
