This jeweler is known for his beautiful, modern renderings of classic, old-style designs, like this dramatic, yet graceful, naja. Gracefully tapered in form, it is impeccably stamped, by hand, in a decorative design that emphasizes its shape. A lovely, natural Kingman turquoise dangles prettily from the center. Its spiderweb pattern of matrix echoes the all-over stamped borders of the piece, as does the twisted rope bezel around the stone. Minutely fluted and repousse half-beads terminate the ends, repeating the curve of the whole naja, and the dome of the turquoise. The shepherd's hook in back is soldered to the piece, but can easily be detached, to accommodate a wider range of beads, heishi, or chains. This artist is noted for his classic, antique-y styles, executed with wonderful precision in heavy-gauge silver that has been lightly brushed for an older look. This graceful naja contains all the characteristic elements that make his work so happily collected.
