A young artist, who went to New York City to absorb the variety of art found there, Silvester’s work has already been noted at the most prestigious Indian art shows, as well as national art magazines. Truly unique among Native artists, his style unites contemporary, abstract art and unusual mediums with his Zuni traditions. The creative use of mixed media, as here, is one of his hallmarks.
This wonderful sculpture shines, sparkles, soothes, and harmonizes all the colors and textures into a beautiful whole. The circular form contains both warm golden, bright blue and night-dark hues; is it the sun, or the moon? Which is being eclipsed? Pondering these questions is fun, but the beauty of the piece, and its iconic form, is easily enjoyed for itself.
0Ingeniously composed of individually formed and painted “tiles”, as the artist calls them, the carefully arranged pieces are placed against a background of black glitter, that twinkles like the stars at night. Like the halo of an eclipse this piece both glows and amazes.A brilliant work of art that is simply…celestial.
