Description
Mary Lovato is a third-generation jeweler from the Pueblo of Santo Domingo (Kewa). Besides raising five sons to become accomplished silversmiths, Mary has established herself as the standard-bearer for her style of work. Her forte is inlaid shell earrings and pendants, a blend of the contemporary and the traditional.
She’s been known to use slivers of turquoise, pipestone, serpentine, coral, jet, and mother-of-pearl to reflect the colors of the Sun’s glow.
In this pin/pendant, Mary has lived up to her usual high standards, using Jet, Turquoise, Coral, and Sterling Silver to make a beautiful mosaic featuring a dragonfly and a single flower.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Mary’s work without being delicately inlaid on top of a Mother-of-Pearl shell.
Her hallmark is carved into the shell, with a stalk of corn representing her Corn Clan roots.
A classic work of art by a highly-regarded and sought-after artist, this will become a true conversation piece no matter where it’s worn!
