The exquisite detail for which this carver is noted – in carving and painting both – is evident. He spends as much time painting as he does carving the piece, using Winsor Newton oil colors and paintstakingly mixing the shade desired, inch by inch and coat by coat. This is a really unusual carving; the base is a mass of vivid rocky outcroppings. He is colorful, full of life-like detail, and a splendid carving.
