Tommy is an amazingly versatile, perennial award-winner whose work is proudly collected all over the world. He has been teacher and mentor to many gifted silversmiths, and is deeply grateful for his God-given talent. This is a real collector’s piece – a collaborative work between Tommy and his wife, Marita.
Gleaming, oval silver conchos – 12 in all – are each centered with an harmonizing, oval piece of deep red natural coral, for impressively serene harmony of design. The stepped escutcheon that surrounds the coral is reminiscent of a Navajo rug pattern, and adds some jazzy yang to the tranquil yin of the ovals. This design also signifies rain, so the contrast is also between rain and the warm sun, symbolized by the red coral. This balance of nature is very good luck.
A beautiful blend of traditional and contemporary, with a perfect balance of shape, size, texture and ornamentation. Beauty that is truly timeless.
