Colorful Butterfly PaintingLeah Pedro
And now, introducing…Leah Pedro!
Leah is a young artist (only 13!) from Acoma Pueblo, the granddaughter of the great potter Frederica Antonio.
We met Leah through our Native Arts Community Grant art contest, and now we’re happy to carry her work in the gallery!
This painting depicts a colorful butterfly, with its surroundings reminiscent of Spring.
The symbolism generally represents the prosperity of a good harvest.
Hidden in plain sight is the red corn painted inside the butterfly’s wings. This is a thoughtful touch, as Leah is part of the Red Corn Clan.
A talented youngster taking her family into a new generation of art, Leah is someone to watch as she continues her growth as an artist, and we’re happy to have her here at Wright’s!!
