A man with many hats in his wardrobe: painter, carver, teacher, activist, businessman, and – most happily for us : jeweler extraordinaire. Roger cuts and sets stones, but unlike many Zuni jewelers, prefers large stones with personality, and sets them simply, showing them off to best advantage. This dramatic choker is a lovely example of visual drama and exceptional workmanship.
The beautifully simple choker is chiseled with elegant restraint. The handmade rectangular links are fastened with a small oval turquoise that matches the one in the pendant. That dramatic pendant features a large, gently curved, natural turquoise with a lacy network of matrix. It is topped with a horizontal oval of natural red coral whose solid gleam contrasts with the figured turquoise. Cleverly, the pendant may be detached from the choker, so each piece can be worn separately, or paired with other pieces. Beautiful, and versatile, too!
Roger’s work is known and collected for its dedication to timeless simplicity, intriguing stones and immaculate workmanship, all found in this serenely dramatic necklace.
