Married into the Reano family of distinguished mosaic jewelers, Charlene learned from her in-laws very well.
She herself now does the designing, cutting and inlaying – piece by piece, by hand, of every one of her award-winning pieces. (Her husband does the final polishing and grinding of the shells and stones. )
Her work has won many prestigious awards since starting on her own in the 1980’s.
She is known for her inlay work of small, colorful tiles, creating a mosaic of rich color and pattern.
Some of her work results in stunning, major pieces like reversible necklaces entirely of her mosaics, but in two different color combinations, that are destined to be heirlooms.
But here, with these earrings, the same meticulous workmanship and beautiful colors can be easily acquired.
Inlaid on a background of natural mother of pearl, a beautiful composition of lapis, mother of pearl, and abalone shell, shimmers in the light.
There is one touch of melon-y spiny oyster shell on each earring, to complement the blue palette
Lightweight on the ear, with luminous flashes as you move, these earrings are a prime example of the artist’s famous work
