A member of the Louisiana Lumbee tribe, D. R. happily gave up his oil-field jobs to concentrate on gorgeously colorful gourd masks. They are imaginative creations, rather than with any specific meaning
Brighten your wall; add beautiful variety to an arrangement of paintings, drawings, and other art. This natural gourd was halved, scraped, and painted by hand. The feathers are all natural: parrot feathers ranging from teal to pale lavender; white-dotted guinea fowl, and wispy, exotic domestic fowl feathers. Metallic blue paint is bordered by gold, with a leathery russet center to the “face”. Glossy black paint forms raised dots on the gold stripes.
Lusciously textured and hued, but subtly; a richly decorative addition to your home, whether alone, or part of an ensemble.
