One of the mega-gifted children of award-winning, Fannie Loretto, Marcus creates award-winning pottery figures, like sister Kathy Wall.
His preference, however, is to portray animals.
This big boy is one happy bear, with a nice, plump fish, and a beehive full of honey, for dessert!
Beautifully modeled and naturalistic, the details are wonderful.
For instance, the painted pads on the paws, the markings on his muzzle; the entire bear-y form and proportion of the figure.
The bear wears the modestly proud expression of a successful fisherman. Or, the somewhat stunned expression of one who didn’t expect success!
Then, there’s the fish. With an appropriately glum expression, and lovely markings, the fine, fat rainbow trout looks to be a succulent meal.
The beehive is also realistic, waiting for its turn on the menu.
All traditionally fashioned, by hand, this is another delightful bear figure from this well-known pottery artist.
