Preston Duwyenie

An official Master Potter, former teacher at the Institute of American Indian Arts, and student of the famed Ottilie Loloma, there. This thoughtful, soft-spoken artist produces pottery that is minimalist, serene, and supremely elegant. Unlike traditional Hopi pottery, he uses no decoration, except for an applique of hand cast silver, embedded in the immaculately finished micaceous clay, at times. Also unlike Hopi pottery traditions, Preston uses the Pueblo smothering technique to create black pieces. His pristinely beautiful pieces are zen-like in their simplicity and perfection of form.
He has won innumerable awards and has innumerable collectors.
