Pete and Dinah Gasper

Pete and his wife Dinah collaborated on prize-winning and eagerly collected fetishes for years. They were often arranged in decorative, detailed and charming fetish necklaces. They are credited with being the first carvers at Zuni to inlay their fetishes with heartlines. Their fetish necklaces are composed of tiny, but detailed, animals, birds and fish. Pete and Dinah received numerous awards at Santa Fe Indian Market, and elsewhere.
Sadly, we learned that Pete passed away on May 15th, 2012. Therefore, the future of Gaspar necklaces is in limbo, at least for now. It is a loss for the art of fetish carving, as well as for his family and us.
