Raised on the reservation by his Lakota grandmother, this creative jeweler lived in the southwest, with his Navajo wife. However, his beautifully detailed, hand-wrought pieces reflect his Plains heritage in subject matter.
He liked to accent his silver work with gold details, and create variety with polish, texture, darkened silver, etc. Horses and horsemen were favorite subjects, as were elk warriors, and narrative pieces depicting Lakota lore.
We are deeply saddened to report that Michael recently passed away. There is another empty space in our hearts, and another loss to the world of Indian jewelry.
