Melody Lightfeather

A well-known painter of Native themes, she usually favored watercolors. Her award-winning work was in many collections, including that of the White House and the Smithsonian Institution. Along with paintings, her fame resided in the beaded sneakers she made for celebrities such as Goldie Hawn. Tragically, she died in an automobile accident in 2001, at the age of only 49.
