Lusis Lucero

One of the talented potters from the Paquime tribe of New Casas Grande, in northern Mexico., whose wares are known as Mata Ortiz. They are descended from the Pueblan tribes, but their pottery tradition was lost until the 1970’s, when it was rediscovered. It is now a thriving cottage industry, just as it is in our Pueblos. The quality is very fine, but the lower prices reflect a different national economy.
