Janice Tenorio

Daughter and granddaughter of jewelers, she was a member of Wright’s staff, but left to care for her parents. She continues her family’s heritage as a maker of fine heishi: tiny tubular beads of shell and stone. Labor- and material-intensive, heishi is the descendant of the ancient style of jewelry: adorning oneself with pretty bits of shells, coral, and turquoise.
Janice likes to use entirely natural materials in her pieces, unlike many of her cohorts. Her work is delicate and refined.
