Colin Coonsis

This young man has made a considerable impact on the Indian jewelry world, with his contemporary inlaid pieces. His jewelry genes are impressive: son of Harlan Coonsis and Rolanda Haloo, grandson of Jacob (Jake) Haloo; nephew of Phyllis Coonsis, Dolly Banteah, Nancy Laconsello, Jacke Livingston, and more.
Colin says,”My work is mostly influenced by Zuni designs and traditional concepts…. The history of my influences includes the work of the Jacob Haloo, who is (sic) one of the many Zuni artists that revolutionized the use of overlay/inlay technique.”

Colin’s awards include a prestigious SWAIA fellowship, a fellowship from the Wheelwright Museum, and first-place ribbons at the Heard Museum show and others. A fine talent to watch.
