Noted for storytellers of exceptional beauty and precision of detail, the artist learned from her mother and, especially, her aunt, Marie Romero (late mother of Maxine Toya and Laura Gachupin, as well). Her figures are animated, and inspired by her grandparents. Often, they have blankets that flutter and skirts that flare out, creating the effect of motion. Whether adults, or children, her faces are unusually detailed and handsome.
