An artistic whiz-kid, who has been consistently winning prizes since he was 7 years old. Now a junior at the University of Oklahoma, his winsome ledger-style gouaches explore his mother’s Kiowa heritage. Recently, he has experimented with some inspiration from his paternal Navajo heritage. His father is noted painter Benny “Yellowman” Nelson, and his uncle is jeweler L. Eugene Nelson, whose work is included in the American Craft Museum’s invitational show “Changing Hands: Art without Reservations”.
