Wright's Indian Art > Assiniboine

The Assiniboine are a Siouan Native American/First Nations people originally from the Northern Great Plains of the United States and Canada. Located primarily in what is now Saskatchewan, they also lived in parts of Alberta, southwestern Manitoba, northern Montana and western North Dakota. Nowadays, there are Assiniboine reserves and populations found as far east as Ontario, Wisconsin and Michigan. The Assiniboine are similar to the Lakota Sioux in lifestyle, language, and culture.
