Wright's Indian Art Newsletter - June 2010

THIS MONTH AT WRIGHT'S - JUNE 2010
Wrights Gallery Father
Let's hear it for the Dads in our lives: yours, his, hers, or someone you cherish as a father - figure. We have grouped an assortment of ideas for you to choose from, in different media, and at varied price points. Find something for the men dear to you that will be as lasting and special as their love and guidance.

Wrights Gallery New Pottery
See new pottery in "New Items" Category!
Pots as containers, pots for storage, pots to cook in. Pottery is one of the oldest crafts known to history and pre-history. It is still practiced by our Native tribes, but to create works of art, rather than utility. As varied as the traditions that inspire the pieces, and as individual as the artists who create them, the new pottery we are showcasing this month is still made as it was hundreds of years ago: first you dig the earth, then make the clay; coil it, smooth it, carve of polish it, fire it in a pit, and hope it doesn't explode. Admire the beauty and respect the skill and patience; own a piece of the earth, and a link with history.

Wrights Gallery Wedding Vases

Weddings Plans?
June means weddings and anniversaries. The most appropriate and memorable gift for either is a handmade pottery wedding vase. They are actually still used in Pueblo wedding ceremonies. Our stunning examples will be a gift cherished far more than just another piece of crystal. Each one is accompanied by an explanation of its role in Santa Clara weddings, written by one of the potters.
