A leading younger silversmith, Arland's preferred style includes miniature appliques of petroglyph figures in gold or silver. He textures the background to resemble the natural rocky outcroppings where the real petroglyphs are found.

A Navajo, born on the reservation near Bluff, Utah, he has won numerous awards for his jewelry, which is simultaneously delicate and monumental. He is counted among the most successful and individual of silversmiths.

Well-rounded in his interests, Arland participates in rodeos, was a top-rated wrestler in college, and runs a small ranch in New Mexico, with the help of his wife and two sons. His jewelry is in major galleries and collections throughout the USA and abroad.
